Faces of Agriculture - May 3, 2012

Since its founding in 1974, IFDC has focused on increasing and sustaining food security and agricultural productivity in more than 100 developing countries through the development and transfer of effective crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise. Over that time, IFDC staff and partners have documented the Center’s efforts not only through extensive reports, but also through photography. This photo series – which will be updated daily throughout 2012 – honors the efforts of those who have participated in building stronger agricultural value chains around the world. These faces illustrate the effort and often back-breaking work that is smallholder farming in the developing world. They are also the faces of progress and of change. Most importantly, they are the faces of hope for billions of men, women and children who strive for sustained food security, better health and a better quality of life.
