About SNV

Connecting People's Capacities
SNV is an international development organization of Dutch origin with over 40 years of experience. We currently work in 32 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Balkans, with an increasing presence of national advisors in-country.
What do we do?
SNV supports national and local actors within government, civil society and the private sector to find and implement local solutions to social and economic development challenges. We stimulate and set the framework for the poor to strengthen their capacities and escape poverty. We do this by facilitating knowledge development, brokering, networking and advocacy at national and international level. Partnerships with other development agencies and the private sector are key to our approach.
Positive outcome
People in more than 32 countries in the world will benefit from improved access to production, income and employment opportunities, and to the quality of basic services like education, water & sanitation and renewable energy.
Our Mission
SNV is dedicated to a society in which all people enjoy the freedom to pursue their own sustainable development. We contribute to this by strengthening the capacity of local organizations.
We help to alleviate poverty by focusing on increasing people’s income and employment opportunities in specific productive sectors, as well as improving their access to basic services including water and sanitation, education and renewable energy.
Our motto, 'Connecting People's Capacities', reflects our focus on the empowerment of people and local organizations in the fight against poverty.
