IFDC training programs have covered a wide range of subjects including Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM) and fertilizer use efficiency, fertilizer production technology, agro-input dealership management, competitive marketing, supply chain management, investment analysis, policy reforms, decision support tools using computer modeling and numerous specialized topics.
The organization’s specialized training programs are designed for managers and professionals in private, public, cooperative, governmental and non-governmental organizations whose positions require knowledge of the fertilizer industry. The programs are conducted by a multi-disciplinary international team that includes experienced IFDC staff members and industry experts. IFDC conducts general workshops, study tours and training using the latest technology to promote knowledge transfer and skills development. Programs of regional interest are conducted in locations in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. To provide hands-on opportunities, training programs often include field trips to agro-input manufacturing facilities, agricultural research institutes, handling operations, agribusiness dealerships and small and large farms. Generally, training programs vary in duration from one week to two weeks.
IFDC also conducts a range of specialized training and study tours in the United States and elsewhere tailored to the specific requirements of individual companies, non-governmental organizations and governments. Individual training is usually conducted at IFDC headquarters, but also often involves agricultural and industrial organizations elsewhere in the United States, and in Europe, Africa and Asia. Specialized programs for groups of participants are based on requests from individuals, organizations and governments.
