A year after the launch of Impala, its new cassava-based beer, Cervejas de Moçambique (CdM) is reporting that 2,700 tons of raw cassava have been produced by more than 500 smallholder farm families.

The production of Impala beer relies on the participation of multiple partners including IFDC and the Dutch Agriculture Development & Trading Company (DADTCO). IFDC organizes and trains cassava farmers in best agricultural practices to ensure quality and efficient production. DADTCO utilizes its autonomous mobile processing unit, which reduces the need for farmers to transport the perishable cassava over long distances. After processing the cassava, DADTCO sells the cassava flour to CdM.
