IFDC Media Statement
For Immediate Release
Monday, April 14, 2014

(MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala.) Dr. Amit Roy, president and CEO of the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), issued the following statement in advance of Earth Day on April 22, 2014.

“Environmental efforts like Earth Day must start with farmers, particularly smallholders. These keepers of our land produce the world’s food.

“We must continue to train smallholders in sustainable farming practices, such as fertilizer deep placement, that help conserve natural resources and increase personal incomes. As farmers begin to adopt more advanced farming techniques, they not only improve their families’ lives, they become stewards of our environment.”
