Healthy soil is the foundation for a nutritious world. To celebrate this essential component of our food system, IFDC is launching a photo contest in recognition of the International Year of Soils.

Share photos depicting the soil in your area or photos that demonstrate proper soil management practices. The winner will receive a paperback copy of Feeding a Hungry World: IFDC’s First Forty Years, and the photo may appear in an issue of our IFDC Magazine.

Tweet your photos to @IFDCnews using the hashtag #ShowUsYourDirt or share them via Facebook or Instagram. You can also e-mail photos to (the best option for large files). Please include the name of the photographer/organization, location and a brief description.

Photos can be submitted through Tuesday, February 24. Throughout the month, we will share our favorites on social media and (always crediting the original source). A winner will be chosen on Wednesday, February 25. To be considered for inclusion in the IFDC Magazine, the photo must be 300 dpi. Photos published in the magazine will credit the original photographer and/or organization.
