Senior specialist in engineering

I’m passionate about the new challenges faced daily due to the diversity of projects. The greatest challenge is to meet the clients’ expectations by successfully executing the projects to deliver the answers. Although IFDC works in developing and improving existing fertilizers, our clientele is very diverse, and we often have to rethink our formulations to achieve our objectives.

Luisa DeFaria, senior specialist in engineering, joined IFDC in 1999. She provides technical assistance to the fertilizer industry, conducts IFDC’s international training programs and executes work in IFDC’s Pilot Plant. She also assists with techno-economic studies and the monitoring and evaluation of project performance.

DeFaria’s career began in Venezuela as a chemical engineer for INTEVEP, providing research and technical assistance to the petroleum and petrochemical industries in Venezuela. She connected with IFDC to work on a pilot plant study regarding the phosphoric acid process being developed by INTEVEP.

As senior engineer at IFDC, DeFaria is part of a pilot plant team that provides quality assistance to IFDC’s clients in the fertilizer industry. She has shared her knowledge with many people around the world through IFDC’s training programs.

DeFaria holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Universidad de Carabobo, Carabobo State, and a specialization degree in engineering of petrochemical processes from the Universidad de los Andes, Mérida State, Venezuela.
