Farmers’ access to mineral fertilizer in Nigeria is limited. In fact, fertilizers are much more difficult to purchase than a bottle of Coca-Cola, which is available in most rural villages.
IFDC has implemented a fertilizer voucher program to ensure that smallholder farmers in Nigeria have access to subsidized fertilizer. In 2010 more than 170,000 smallholder farmers purchased fertilizer using vouchers provided through the program.
