MATSAPHA, Swaziland – Thirty agro-dealers participated in the first AMITSA agro-dealer data collection training session in Swaziland. “If every farmer could use the right seed and fertilizer, plough at the right time and also have access to correct information, the rate of agricultural productivity would increase immensely while helping to ensure food security,” said Bridget Okumu, IFDC market information systems specialist, during the three-day workshop.
To increase farmers’ access to information on fertilizers, seeds and crop protection products, AMITSA will be launched in Ethiopia, Swaziland and Zimbabwe by the end of 2011. AMITSA is a web- and mobile-based market information system on agro-inputs for eastern and southern Africa.
