“Shamba Shape-Up” is a ‘make-over’ television series that features farm families in East Africa and addresses specific challenges to improving their farms (‘shambas’). The show includes agricultural experts that demonstrate practical methods and technologies that can transform farm productivity. The series’ tagline is “Grow more food, make more money, build a better life.”
In episode one, Philip Karuri of IFDC is featured as a soil fertility expert. Karuri explains the importance of using fertilizer to increase yields and the benefits of soil testing to determine what type and quantity of fertilizer to apply.
The series is produced by Mediae and sponsored by the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund and the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa. IFDC is among the show’s supporters.
