Cervejas de Moçambique (CdM) is celebrating the first year of production of its new Impala beer, brewed mainly from cassava tubers produced by smallholder farmers in Nampula province.
Project collaborator IFDC organized and trained cassava farmers in best agricultural practices to ensure quality and efficient production.
According to CdM, more than 500 farmers in Nampula province are shifting from subsistence farming to a market-oriented, cash-generating farming system; so far, 2,700 tons of cassava have been produced and processed, with a value of 4.34 million meticais paid to farm families.
