The production of global wheat, coarse grains and rice production in 2013 is expected to be strong. Coarse grains production is expected to reach a new record at 1,266 million metric tons, and maize plantings will likely reach the highest level since 1936. In spite of these record highs, world cereal utilization is expected to stagnate because of rising prices and faltering ethanol demand.
