Empowering Women Feeds Families, Says IFDC
(Muscle Shoals, Ala.) Dr. Amit Roy, President and CEO of the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), issued the following statement in advance of International Women’s Day 2014 on Saturday, March 8, 2014:
“Providing the tools to empower women helps families thrive. Women farmers play a critical role in preventing malnutrition and ultimately ending poverty worldwide. IFDC is improving the lives of these farmers by giving them the training and the technologies to feed their families and, in turn, they are building their countries’ economies from the ground up.
“One concrete impact is that IFDC and its partners are helping Bangladeshi women provide their children with nutritious and diverse diets, thus reducing malnutrition, vitamin deficiencies and sickness. Investing in women and families is the most effective vehicle to help ensure food security for generations to come.”
