IFDC is pleased to announce that Bayella H. Thiam has joined the organization as Chief Operating Officer.

With more than 25 years of senior leadership experience across agribusiness, food systems, and international development, Thiam brings extensive expertise in multi-country operations, organizational leadership, and operational transformation.

Thiam’s career reflects a strong commitment to building robust operational systems that connect strategy, execution, and impact. He has led complex regional and country operations across Africa and Europe, overseeing operational scale-up, financial stewardship, risk management, and compliance in both development and private sector environments.

During his career, Thiam has held senior executive roles with global organizations, including TechnoServe, ADM Animal Nutrition, and Novus International. Most recently, as Regional Director for East and West Africa at TechnoServe, he provided strategic and operational oversight across multiple country programs, ensuring high standards of compliance and service delivery.

Thiam’s global perspective is informed by decades of experience working across Africa and Europe and by his deep understanding of agricultural value chains and market systems. He holds an executive MBA from HEC Paris, a master’s degree in business and marketing for the food sector, and an engineering degree in food industry.

As IFDC continues to advance sustainable agricultural development and global food security, Thiam’s leadership will be instrumental in scaling the organization’s operational excellence.

IFDC is excited to welcome Thiam to the team and looks forward to his contributions in strengthening organizational performance and supporting IFDC’s mission of transforming agriculture for a sustainable and food-secure world.
