The third edition of the Soil Values newsletter is now available, highlighting the program’s major advances in 2025, its regional integration, and its strategic vision for sustainable soil management in the Sahel.

This edition features the Director’s message, key results from the program’s baseline study, and contributions from consortium members, underscoring a strengthened collective dynamic working toward food security and ecosystem resilience.

Women at the Heart of Agricultural Transformation

The newsletter features a strong focus on women’s leadership in agricultural transformation, highlighting how the Soil Values program is working to shift gender norms and strengthen women’s roles in natural resource management and agricultural production. These efforts contribute to greater economic empowerment, household resilience, and more inclusive territorial governance across the Sahel.

Sustainable Watershed Management and Ecosystem Resilience

Furthermore, this edition explores sustainable watershed management as a key driver of food security and ecosystem resilience. It showcases actions to restore land, promote good agricultural practices, and engage communities, demonstrating how integrated watershed approaches support long-term soil fertility and environmental sustainability.

Strong Presence on the Regional Stage

The newsletter also highlights Soil Values’ growing regional visibility, with coverage of the program’s participation in major agricultural platforms, including the fifth edition of Farmers’ Week in Niger, the Africa Food Systems (AFS) Forum, and the Market for Agricultural Innovations and Technologies (MITA) 2025. These engagements underscored efforts to promote agroecological innovation, advocate for soil health, and strengthen partnerships for a sustainable agricultural future.
