Prior to joining IFDC, Dr. Abebe Dakka gained valuable experience in leadership from VSO Ethiopia as Country Lead and from the International Development Enterprise (iDE) as Country Program Director in Ethiopia from October 2020 to September 2022. He also worked in both development and emergency programs, such as a Research and Development Officer at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Program Development Coordinator for World Vision, and Senior Program Management Specialist for USAID.
Abebe brings a wealth of diverse knowledge gained over the past two decades from academia, receiving his Ph.D. in Geography and Sustainable Development from the University of Bern, his master’s in Soil Science from Zhejiang University, a bachelor’s degree in Arid Zone Agriculture from the University of Asmara, and experience working for various universities serving as a Graduate Assistant to Assistant Professor. Preceding his current role as Country Director, Abebe served IFDC as Senior Expert in Ethiopia from October 2022 to August 2023.
