Dr. Zachary P. Stewart, Vice President of Research holds a doctorate in soil science and crop physiology from the University of Nebraska, a master’s degree in control of infectious diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a bachelor’s in biology, environmental sciences, and international relations from Creighton University.
In his previous role as a Senior Food Security Advisor at USAID, Dr. Stewart led initiatives focused on improving global food and nutrition security for smallholder farmers across sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. His work has been instrumental in advancing agricultural production while enhancing human nutrition and livelihoods.
Dr. Stewart’s leadership in the SOILS Consortium has positioned him as a global leader in developing and implementing strategies for soil health and soil fertility. His multidisciplinary approach has earned him recognition, including the prestigious John Chrystal Award from the World Food Prize Foundation, for his contributions to agriculture and food security.
