In the remote communities of Muanza and Cheringoma in Mozambique, women are embracing opportunities that once seemed out of reach, thanks to the transformative impact of the Triple Resilience (3R) program.

More than just creating jobs, 3R is unlocking women’s potential to build brighter futures and strengthen their communities’ resilience. The program has had a particularly profound impact on eight women, representing 11 families involved in the Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) process.

“This job has given me more than just an income—it has given me hope.”

Maria, Mother and Fundação LevasFlor Partner

With the support of Fundação LevasFlor, an implementing partner, these women secured indefinite contracts with LevasFlor Limitada, a sustainable forestry company in Condué. This opportunity has not only provided the women with employment but has also fostered financial independence and personal growth—key factors for lasting change in their lives. Sofia Ósia is one of these women who has broken barriers in a traditionally male-dominated industry leading activities at the Timber Treatment Center.

Maria, a mother of three, also shared how her new job at LevasFlor Limitada has changed her life, saying, “Before this, I struggled to provide for my children. I never imagined having a stable income. But now, I feel secure. I can take care of my family and even dream of a better future. This job has given me more than just an income—it has given me hope.”

The 3R program goes beyond offering employment opportunities by ensuring that women receive essential training as well. Once onboarded, they participate in life skills workshops provided by Fundação LevasFlor, equipping them with financial literacy, decision making skills, and self-confidence to thrive both professionally and personally.

Another woman shared her experience, saying, “The training has changed my life. Now, I feel more capable and confident in managing my finances and making decisions for my future. This job has given me more than a paycheck—it has given me the skills to truly change my life.”

Each woman empowered by the 3R program creates a ripple effect that strengthens not only their families but also their broader communities. As Maria reflected on the support from the project, she concluded, “I now understand that I have the power to shape my future, and I’m determined to pass that strength onto my children. The 3R program has given me the tools to rebuild my life, and I will ensure that my children have even more opportunities than I ever had.”

Through initiatives like these, the 3R program is not just transforming individual lives—it is empowering women to become leaders in their communities, breaking barriers, and creating sustainable opportunities for future generations.

The Triple Resilience (3R) program (2023-2027) aims to build and strengthen social, climate, and economic resilience in Mozambique by accelerating the shift from humanitarian aid to long-term sustainable development. 3R is funded by the Embassy of Sweden and is implemented by IFDC in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA)Associação Kwaedza Simukai Manica (AKSM)LevasFlor Foundation, União Provincial Dos Camponeses De Manica (UCAMA), União Provincial de Camponeses de Sofala (UPCS), and the International Economic Cooperation Institute (ICEI).
