The Soil Values program is progressing efficiently and at a strong pace after meeting the challenges of its first year. The program has built meaningful partnerships and conducted inclusive activities that champion agricultural producers in the Sahel and advance soil health.

This second issue of the Soil Values newsletter highlights the commitment of one such partner, the Kingdom of the Netherlands. As the program’s main donor, it promotes sustainable development and food security in the Sahel, working through complex, interdependent challenges, such as accelerated soil degradation.

This issue also identifies several flagship initiatives carried out in the program’s first year, including training in integrated soil fertility management (ISFM) and support for agricultural producers to advocate for sustainable soil management. Moreover, since Soil Values is committed to inclusivity, its Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) approach promotes social justice and strengthens collaborations with national partners and initiatives, driving meaningful and lasting impact.

We invite you to read the latest Soil Values newsletter (download) below and subscribe to receive more news about IFDC and its programs.

The newsletter is also available in French.

Funded by the Dutch Directorate-General for International Cooperation (DGIS), the Soil Values program is being implemented over 10 years (2024-2033), led by the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), in consortium with SNV and Wageningen University and Research (WUR), as well as knowledge partners such as AGRA, the Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF), the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)ISRIC – World Soil Information, and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI).
