Through a consultative process initiated in October 2025, the Africa Fertilizer Industry Development Association (AFIDA) has been chosen as the new host of AfricaFertilizer.
This process involved broad-based engagement with stakeholders across the African fertilizer value chain, including public sector institutions, private sector actors, development partners, and regional bodies. The result reflects a shared commitment to preserving AfricaFertilizer’s neutrality, credibility, and continental relevance.
The International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) will support AFIDA through a 12‑month transition period and thereafter remain engaged as a technical partner, ensuring continuity of the robust data systems, methodologies, and analytical rigor that have underpinned AfricaFertilizer’s impact over the past 15 years.
In addition, the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) will also join as a technical partner.
This transition marks a significant milestone in the evolution of AfricaFertilizer, positioning the platform for its next phase of growth, sustainability, and deeper alignment with continental priorities.
At the same time, the transition preserves the initiative’s founding vision: supporting market transparency, evidence-based decision-making, and agricultural transformation across the continent, while reinforcing long-term institutional ownership within Africa.
IFDC and AFIDA express their deep appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the consultative process. As AfricaFertilizer transitions into its next phase, we call on the continued support of industry, government, and development partners to collectively sustain and strengthen the initiative’s role as a trusted source of fertilizer data and market intelligence for Africa.
