Phosphorus is one of the three essential nutrients that plants must have to grow. There are concerns that world phosphate rock production will peak in about 20 years and then decrease as reserves are depleted. However, according to a study by IFDC, global phosphate rock resources suitable for phosphate-based fertilizers are far more extensive than previously estimated.
