SABMiller is introducing Impala, a beer made from cassava sourced locally from smallholder farmers in Mozambique.
The brewer is working with IFDC and DADTCO to help cassava farmers increase production through improved agricultural practices and the use of mobile processing units that eliminate the need to transport the raw material long distances. SABMiller will eventually use up to 40,000 tons of raw cassava annually from over 1,500 small farms.
